Pro Tools users: is there a way to lock the tempo map to the transient? pretty much like how you do the “lock tempo” (kinda) feature in DP? currently looking at the manual but im taking my chances here anyway. So when you drag the region, the tempo map moves along with it instead of remaining where it is?

Helped out my friend Ben track Mad Blackbirds for his MP461 project. i liked how it turned out. Used simple concepts in miking and summed things up. Had less than 10 tracks going to tape. Pretty simple and effective i would say.
Glyn Johns miking on drums (K, SN and OHs)
3 bass signals summed (2 amps and 1 DI)
2 mics on a guitar summed
Highlights: R121’s on OH
Jensen DIs through a vintage Neve1073 pre for bass.
Wunder CM7 on the bass amp through a UA610 pre.
OH height on the GJ OH’s were around 25-30cms. it felt tighter that way. started out around 40 but was too roomy.
Not to mention the beautiful SSL 4k G series console we were using. Grateful for all of these.
anyway. More on this project later.

recorded drums yesterday for Peso Movement’s “Pwersa ng Iisa” at LOA Sound Production. I think i got the sounds that i wanted. Everything seemed to blend well. Such a young, resourceful and talented bunch of people in that studio!
If theres one thing that i am learning being back home. A lot of people here are really resourceful. Its really refreshing.
MY “LIVE TO 2” PROJECT!
Audri Acuña - Swell and Bloom
Live to 2 is basically live recording and mixing into a stereo track. No additional editing was done to this piece except for the cuts in and out (and fades!)
Recorded live in Studio A of the MPE department in Berklee. All electronics triggered and multitracked, Piano, Guitar, Bass and Vocals miked, DI-ed and mixed live.
Audri Acuña - Composer, Piano and Vocals
Jonas Margraf - Guitar and Programming (Ableton Live and Buchla 200e)
Nick - Bass
Evan - Live triggers.
Jorel Corpus - Producer, Additional Engineering and Sample Programming (Buchla 200e)
Kevin Luu - Live Mixing and Engineering (THE MAN!!!)
Erin Thomas - Assistant BEST PERSON EVER! and Pro Tools operator
Keith - Assistant and Amp Operator (HAHA) and HOTWATER SPECIALIST!!!
Ben - Assistant and the water man.
Im pretty happy with how we were able to incorporate the Buchla 200e into this project. I insisted on multitracking the samples and ended up with 8 channels. Recording and setting up for this session was pretty intense. But im really happy with how it came out.
If there was an inter-departmental thing going on, i would have totally brought the synth to be DI’ed properly. We still did sample it using Apogee Converters at 96/24 so its still pretty cool!
Anyway, enjoy this! I think for a LIVE MIX without any editing nor extra mixing prior to the session, its pretty nice! its great to use old school manual automation with tracks like these! That SSL board sounds AMAZING!
So grateful for projects like these. Always great to work with brilliant and hard working artists!
First time to record drums tonight. made a lot of errors and could have been more organized. but more than anything, it was a great experience, i definitely learned a lot more by just jumping on and doing it than actually theorizing stuff and writing.
This is sem is the best yet. Things can only get better.
shoutouts to my friends Erin, Andreas and Fabio for helping me out!
Assisted in Il Abanico’s recording session yesterday for my friend Jesse’s 461 midterm. They were recording new material. Im pretty excited about it. its a little darker and has a heavier groove. Ill be watching them tonight at Plough and Stars!
and thanks for voting for them in the New England Deli competition. They won it!
